chinese new yeeeere.

People born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.

although i believe the part about the ox[jason] and the rat getting along i'm not sure "speak little, and patience" really define jason.  lolcats.

The Lunar New Year, which begins today, ushers in the Year of the Ox. Those born under the Ox sign are dependable, calm, modest and stable. But the ox (or buffalo, cow or bull) takes on added significance in a year of global financial hardship, explains Nine-Min Cheng, community outreach director of Houston's Chinese Community Center. "We need the Year of the Ox. We want a bull market," says Cheng.

Feliz Navidad

there are so many great aspects of xmas but my favorite is finding the perfect gift to give people.
i enjoy the thrill of looking for that one thing that you know is going to really make that person happy, but also surprising them.
i know that my brothers will love their presents if i have a hard time giving these precious thrift store finds to them because i love them so much i would like to keep them myself.
i found allen the greatest italian tan leather messenger bag with two metal buckles straps.
so great.

it's been a peaceful, navidad.  full of love, the spirit of christmas and family humor.

A bond that can't be broken.

Laura and i became friends in sixth grade and in our early high school years we became bff.  Our interests were somewhat similar yet our personalities so different yet complimentary.  She knew my passions, insecurities, standards, political viewpoints, religious beliefs, dislikes, quirks, relationship dynamics, and concerns.  she still does.
Even with the distance our choices in Universities brought we held on to each other.  Every year since we graduated from high school laura will come visit me around October/ November and i visit her over the summer.
While talking to my mom about laura's visit last week i realized that what laura and i have is something so beautiful.  Maintaining a best friend like friendship for 10 + years in and of itself is a rarity, especially when i think of everything we've had to overcome i know it's a one of a kind friendship.
I am so grateful to have a friend who even though is not LDS tries to understand and always is open with spirtual discussion.
She is a spiritual giant in my life, my thrifting companion, my sister-friend, my mentor, my comforter, my best friend.
she completes me.
